In Portal GLaDOS mocks her with how dumb she sounds, and then in Portal 2 Wheatley makes her say "apple"... it feels to me that they put more emphasis on her being mute in the second game. I don't feel like changing this old comic just because of that, but you're probably right. If I was going for full correctness, she'd have to be mute as well.
Opening here, people, what do you want to see in HL3 (Valve isn't working on HL3, but there is planned to be a new Black Mesa to go on after HL and Portal)?
